  • Welcome and Membership Rules: This section introduces the club, outlines membership rules, and emphasizes the importance of safety and responsible conduct.
  • General Rules and Procedures: This section details rules for behavior around the boathouse, on the water, and regarding equipment use. Safety considerations, including weather and temperature guidelines, are highlighted.
  • Membership and Safety Policies: The packet outlines membership requirements, guest policies, and the club’s safety procedures, including swim tests and emergency communication protocols.
  • Rowing Checklist and Participation Guidelines: A checklist for rowing procedures is provided, along with information on rowing after completing the “Learn to Row” program and the process for becoming qualified to steer a boat.
  • Club Boat List and Incident Reporting: The document lists the club’s boats and their types, as well as the procedure for reporting incidents and damage.
  • Using the Boat Reservation System: Instructions on how to use the club’s online boat reservation system are included. (These can also be found on our How to Sign Out a Boat page.)

Overall, the HRRC Welcome Packet serves as a valuable resource for new and existing members, providing you with the necessary information to participate safely and responsibly in the club’s activities.

Hampton Roads Rowing Club Constitution

The Hampton Roads Rowing Club Constitution outlines the club’s purpose, membership structure, and governance. We aim to promote amateur rowing and social interaction. Our constitution breaks down the behind the scenes of how our club operates:

  • Membership levels and dues are determined by the Board of Directors.
  • The Board, consisting of elected and appointed officers, manages club operations, finances, and equipment.
  • The Constitution also details officer duties, elections, meetings, and financial procedures.
  • Amendments require a two-thirds Board vote and a majority member vote.
